This week has been my worse week of cycling to date, with a measly 5.8 miles cycled! However, there are some pretty good reasons (excuses) for this which are outlined below.
To start off then, although I didn’t have a big week the week before I was struggling to find a rhythm and get moving. My legs were a bit achy and I wasn’t totally comfortable on the saddle.
Furthermore, I was exploring new places and attempting a new route that I was making up as I went along. This turned out to be a fairly stupid idea because although the start of the route was nice through quiet country lanes, I ended up being on the main raid into Exmouth in rush hour traffic up some fairly steep hills. After barely making it back to Exmouth alive, I decided to call it a day.
Finally and most importantly, as mentioned in my previous post, I was away for a long weekend from Friday the 25th to Tuesday the 29th in Aberystwyth visiting my girlfriend. As such, this gave me less time to physically cycle since I was away and in the days leading up to travelling I had to make sure I was packed and ready for the trip.
This poor attempt of a week’s cycling means that I have to cycle just over 51 miles in two days! It’s all or nothing next week with a last ditch attempt to hit my 200 mile goal for August!
